Tales from the Sweety Bottle - The Mouse

Click the above image to read. This is the second of a six-part series of stories based on Brennan family anecdotes. The Sweety Bottle was a Lower Falls shebeen ran by my grandfather in the seventies. The Mouse first appeared in the Andersonstown News on Monday 12th January 2009.

At last, you've written something you can show your kids (without traumatising them, that is). I hope you're saving these for posterity.

Mike - That is true. This could be the first time I've written stories that could get away with a PG rating.

Yeah, I'm saving them, even though Michelle's itching to recycle them. She doesn't really do sentimentality.

You "figured it might be more interesting to sit back and see what happened," did you? Good things those men were fighting with nothing stronger than mice.

Peter - Heh! Wait'll you read the instalment I'll be posting on Monday. It's titled The Rabbit.

Peter - You should be able to find out soon enough. I hope to post it a little later today. But right now my son's bashing at the keyboard with his milk cup. Better shut it down for now.
