Ken Bruen -- A Priest?

I was having a wee surf around good old imdb.com, checking out the status on the three movies based on Ken Bruen novels that are in the works. Turns out London Boulevard is about to rap and Blitz is about to start rolling. Once Were Cops has just a very vague entry on imdb, but the fact that it’s there at all warms my cockles, as they say.

I learned a few cool things about London Boulevard. I knew Colin Farrel and Kiera Knightly were cast in it. But I didn’t know that it also stars Stephen Graham, ANNA FRIEL (pictured below), Ray Winstone and David Thewlis. Seriously, I already know I’m going to love this movie.

The Blitz entry gives away a little less info, but it’s damn good info. Jason Statham and Paddy Considine have been cast. Nice.

But there’s one thing about Blitz that imdb doesn’t know yet. Ken Bruen will make a cameo appearance! But if you’ve read an ARC of TOWER and then read the Bruen interview with Craig McDonald included as bonus material you already know this. But here’s something not even revealed there. Ken Bruen will play...

A PRIEST!

You read it all here first, folks.

Don't forget the Guards! I think that is due to start filming this year.. only star I know of so far is David Soul, from the original Starsky & Hutch.

Ken also has a cameo in "London Boulevard".

Neil - That's right. It's a TV series, though, isn't it?

Tannim - I didn't realise. Do you have any more details?

Cheers

Did you ever read Her Last Call to Louis MacNeice? That could be the best KB movie ever!

BTW just finished Blood's A Rover. Awesome is too small a word. And superfantastic is too big a word and not really a word. Anyway I liked it.

Not sure exactly what his role was, but he cracked a joke about being a horrible actor and only having three lines.

I can ask him for some more details when I interview him next week for my website.

If you guys have any questions pertaining to London Boulevard, I'd be glad to include them as part of the interview.

Now we do need you for President
And let's face it, Adrian Mc Kinty rocks
Why is he not not up for all the major awards
I mean, come on Harrowsgate, CWA, etc........
I bet Fifty Grand he gets the nominations in 2010
And despite the U-tube so called evidence, that is not me in U2 video

Would it were true, might sell some of books
Anyway, as they say here, I put Adrians book on the No I slot in the Galway Bookshops
Is this un-etical
Like I give a priestly fook
Thanks so much again El Presidente

Adrian - I still have Her Last Call to look forward to. Also got a couple of new Jack Taylor books at the weekend. Looking forward to those.

Peter - Fook, indeed.

Neil - Read all about it in your latest blog post. Sounds like it was great. Pity I couldn't make it.

Tannim - Please, please, please drop by with a link to that interview.

Ken - Great to have you here. I'm very much in favour of your guerilla marketing campaign. I heard Stuart Neville's book has made it to the number 2 spot in Galway! And yeah - McKinty deserves boatloads of awards. Who do I talk to about this criminal oversight?

Cheers

Ken Bruen also has a post on the Noircon blog, which I can’t bloody find right now. Alan Guthrie has one up, too. I like to think this means they both plan to attend.

Peter - I tried to google the noircon blog myself but came up blank. If you find it, please stop by with a link.

I got to the blog via postings I got from Lou Boxer. I'll post a link here when I get home from work.

Here's the Noircon blog; scroll down for Ken's post. Also, I was wrong about Allan Guthrie's having posted. In fact, Lou Boxer put up a post not by Guthrie that had originally appeared on Guthrie's Noir Originals..\

Hi guys. Talked to Ken and he said the other article was incorrect and he is NOT in London Boulevard. But he did confirm his Blitz cameo. And that he's already gotten a film offer for his children's story.

Gerard Brennan said...

Tannim - Thanks for the gossip. Great news RE Ken's children's story. I'll have to make sure I get a copy for my own little carpet monkies.

Nice website BTW. Thewlis was brilliant in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
