Skulduggery Pleasant Returning Soon!

Like it says on the tin, CSNI is also highly interested in all Irish, Euro and international crime fiction. And this is my first non-NI post.

Last Halloween I took my little sis to a Derek Landy live interview and signing. I'd read my sister's copy of Skulduggery Pleasant before going to it and loved it. Some of the snappiest dialogue I've read in years, and an easy, fun read. So I bought my own copy and stood waist-deep in kids to await a signature from the witty and impressively patient Landy. And I got my favourite personalisation to date. Here's a wee picture of it.

I love it!

Anyway, the follow up, Skulduggery Pleasant: Playing With Fire, is due out on the 1st 0f April. I'm looking forward to picking up a copy.

I've nearly finished the first book and couldn't agree more regarding the snappy dialogue. It's been a lot of fun. I'll write a review when I'm done and snd it along.

Brilliant!

It'll be great to get a fresh perspective on it.

Cheers, Mike

My son has this but he's not yet read it, I'm tempted to pinch it from him but he'll sulk!

I had it marked down as a "young-un" book, so it never crossed my mind to try it.

Similarly a lot of comments on CAP website about Eoin Colfer and his Artemis Fowl books and how much people have enjoyed them.

Steal it, Colman! He'll forgive you.

I'm going to have to read some of these Artemis books. They were recommended to me years ago by a friend and I still haven't picked one up.

I read the first Artemis Fowl book and up to the halfway mark was considering an Eoin Colfer spending spree -- it was that good -- but by the end I'd had enough. Don't ask me for specific reasons cuz I can't remember, I just know I found the second half disappointing. That said, I'm still tempted to try Mr Colfer again.

PS. How d'yer pronounce Eoin?

Hmmmm. I'll maybe order the first one from the library then.

Eoin is a Gaelic spelling of Owen and it's pronounced the same.

You learn all sorts on this blog!
